My thoughts after losing three stones in a year.

Apple

When I reached my 51st birthday last year 2004, I was fourteen and a half stones.I loved my grub..that was the problem, sweets only bothered me now and again but if they were lying around I would shovel them down.
Salty stuff.....especially crisps were my downfall, when I had a night in, I could get through a whole box of Pringles just watching tv, one minute I was opening the box...the next I was draining the crumbs out of the tube!!
I also loved the frying pan..bacon,eggs with tomato sauce and 2/3 slices of bread.
Plateful of chips with salad cream. Pork scratchings....couldn't just eat one pack! My nights out usually were 2/3 nights a week, no soda water for me....eight to ten halves of lager finished off with two or three double bacardis and coke.
I was getting very tired, very easily and it was a chore to walk any further than about 10 minutes stroll.
The day after my birthday.....that was it, I had a date mark to go from, jumped on the scales, I'd never been over fourteen stones before and there it was staring me in the face........heading for fifteen stones.
Well that must have done the trick, I put my weight onto the calendar, went downstairs and made my self bacon and egg....one piece of bacon and one egg, almost dry fried.....couldn't be bothered with all that grilling lark. Apparently something on a morning gets your metabolism going.....if you dont have anything to eat it just doesn't wake up and work, so my breakfast and I did get used to black coffee thankfully filled me for a while. I never said I was dieting...only healthy eating!
I made sure I had a bowl of fruit handy.....and to this day there are always the small mandarin oranges, apples, pears, plums and  grapes in the bowl also bananas...if I dont fancy bacon and eggs.I eat these anytime in any quantity.
I have my main meal at lunchtime,Sunday and Wednesday a full dinner with a small Yorkshire pudding and a wee bit gravy. I even treat myself to fish and chips on a Friday, and sometimes a beloved Kebab on a Thursday evening.....but the fish and chips and kebab are treats and not eaten on a regular basis.
Other days I try to have stir-fry or ommlette for my lunch or of course lean meat and salad or veg. Tea is usually tuna or beetroot sandwiches or a toastie with a healthy filling. I try to do without anything after 6pm, but if I am hungry I pick at some lean meat or a carrot. I sometimes buy unsalted nuts just to have something to roll about my mouth.....full of protein, very good providing you stick to only a few at a time.
I did gain afew pounds over Xmas....really pigged out......but lost 5lb straight away after one week......The skinny dieters say drink at least 8 pints of water a day...well I am trying that, and as I said I lost 5lb in the first week, but stayed still last week.....and stopped my water...so Ive started drinking it again. I have a glass everywhere I am ........visit the loo 20 times a day though...but if it works!!!!

I have started to walk quite a bit and now feel loads better and fitter...and have dropped 3 dress sizes!

Below are some tips on different diets and also recipies etc, I have found helpful....some of the recipies have fancy ingredients which I usually disregard and/or use other ingredients which suits me better.
